[It's time for Serph to meet one of the most important beings in Rinoa's life: Angelo, her trusted partner. They're outside, waiting for him to show up as Rinoa affectionately ruffles Angelo's fur.]
[It's a bright and sunny day, but the weather is cool and the breeze light. Serph's late (of course), mostly because he was busy admiring the ruffle of the grass from the breeze and the sight of the nearby ocean sparkling under the sun.
But he eventually does arrive, greeting both Rinoa and Angelo with a nod and the smallest of smiles.]
[Man, you better not be sniffing his butt, Angelo--
Serph obliges and crouches so it's easier for Angelo to sniff him. And so it's easier for him to give Angelo the obligatory headpats that he's learnt to do around animals. And because literally all his experience with dogs has involved some kind of special power, he asks her...]
[Well, the scritchings aren't going to last very long; Serph's rising so he can walk over to Rinoa and sit on the grass beside her. But, of course, now this just means he's in the perfect position to have dog all over him.]
Combat. Here, it might be easier if I show you. Gimme a second.
[She pulls an Aura Stone out of her pocket as she gets up and walks a few yards away, giving herself some space. She breaks the Stone, causing it to cast Aura on herself. Her Blaster Edge equipped, she waits as the spell does it magic and brings out her Limit Break.
Facing towards an old log, she whistles for Angelo. On cue she comes running and leaps up, positioning herself on Rinoa's Blaster Edge. Her owner aims and fires Angelo. At high speed Angelo crashes into the log, causing a small explosion as she bounces back. Completely unharmed, she trots back to Rinoa, receiving a treat.]
That's one of her moves. [Rinoa looks over her shoulder at Serph.]
[Awe is a good word to describe what he's feeling right now. Along with some mental 'ow'. He nods, acknowledging Rinoa's words, and holds out a hand in hopes Angelo will come back in petting range.]
Does she know how to play any games?
[They're fun, right? But the only games he knows is that video game and hacky sack. And now he's trying to picture Angelo playing hacky sack.]

Rinoa nods, picking up a little ball she had brought along.]
Like this. Angelo!
[She whistles to get her attention, shaking the ball to indicate what they were gonna do. Angelo abandons Serph again to come over and stand at the ready.
Turning around, Rinoa lobs the ball down the field, watching as Angelo takes off after it. Not even half a minute later, she trots back, ball in mouth, and drops it at Rinoa's feet. For something that had to run quite a distance to and fro, she looks rather pleased.]
[Serph watches carefully. So... dogs find this... fun? Well, then again, he did enjoy kicking a hackysack with Signless, so this isn't too much of a stretch, really.
He holds out a hand for the ball -- that probably has dog drool all over it... -- before he makes a request.]
[Well, the ball isn't damp enough to bother him. And throw the ball he does! Instead of throwing the ball out long like Rinoa had, he throws the ball in such a way that it's a bit shorter than the distance Rinoa had thrown it, but at a greater height.]
[No problem for Angelo! She takes off after it, keeping an eye on it as she runs. As it hangs in the air she slows down, and waaaaaaaaaits...
ZOMG THERE IT IS! She jumps up and catches it with her mouth. After a decent landing, she hurries back over, dropping the ball at his feet and jumping up a bit in excitement.]
[Oh, oh, she knows this game! She screeches to a halt just as she went left and darts off to the right, following the ball. Just as before, she catches it, although it bounces once off the ground before she does.
As she trots over and puts it back at his feet, Rinoa laughs.]
[Serph nods, agreeing, before making the arm motion to throw the ball high like his first throw. Again, he changes his throw at the last moment, pitching the ball low across the ground.
He'll watch Angelo (pretty intently) tear after the ball before he says...]
It does seem enjoyable.
[Chasing after a ball, that is. Actually he's considering joining in...]
[It's not much trouble for Angelo, who was tearing after it a bit more cautiously this time. She grabs it during a bounce, and trots back over, looking pleased.]
Well, uh, no. Just the first time I've ever heard of anyone wanting to play fetch... with a dog.
[But she supposes it's not that much different than playing catch. So with a smile, she chucks the ball hard, setting it in a wide arc across the sky. Angelo, as par the course, shoots off after it.]
[Well now you have! Let Serph have his eccentricities in this new world :C!!
Serph, too, runs after the ball, but, unfortunately, Angelo is much faster at tearing across the grass than he is. But Serph already figured that would be the case, so instead, he goes for tackling Angelo when she's already got the ball. Hey, no one told him he isn't allowed to do that!!]
Astrid was finding the new world that she had found herself in to be entirely too overwhelming. She hid it well but the place and all it's fancy technology was more than she could take in. It moved at a pace that was so fast she felt like she couldn't keep up and she was used to dragon racing. On top of that the weather was the opposite of the frozen tundra she was used to. All in all it left her more than a little ill at ease and needing a chance to escape from the towns.
The only thing this island had in common with the one she was from, were the beaches. She had found a cooler spot down by beach in the shade and having shoved off her furs and thick boots she took to sharpening the blade of her axe to the rhythmic lapping of the waves. No matter what happened, she was going to get through this, she was a viking and that's what they did. Still she was on high alert and ready to take down anyone that might have threatened her.
Rinoa hates this place like the plague. She really does. It was sex, sex, sex, with doses of deities and curses that made for all manner of uncomfortable situations. But hey, at least it had some great beaches, she supposed.
Normally she's not one to sun bathe much, but she's bored, and it's better than being in town right now. Rinoa loves people, but it's just too much sometimes. It reminds her that she's not at home, that her friends aren't here, and she has no one. At least on the beach, she can pretend otherwise, for a bit.
A pack of annoying gulls forced her to move her spot, and it's in search of a new perch that she notices Astrid. She pauses, mostly because she's not sure if she's seeing this right. But no, that's definitely an axe that girl has. On the beach. By herself.
For only a moment Astrid was too focused on her work to notice the footsteps of someone approaching. It isn't long though before her mind registers the presence of another individual and she is quick to her feet, axe in hand, eyes narrowed and waiting in an almost primal stance to see if she is in a threatening situation. Having only arrived a short bit ago and still not quite catching on to even what the network was she had not spoken to many people.
Of course, she had to remind herself, this was not her beach and there were plenty of people that were supposedly in the same exact situation she was in. Her eyes looked over the other girl.
"Are you one of them?" She asked accusingly, speaking of the natives of the island.
As soon as Astrid is up with the axe in hand, Rinoa backs up several paces, her towel balled up in her hands. At best, she could throw it at Axe Lady and make a run for it. What is this girl's problem?!
"One of who?" she asks in return, eyes wide.
This is... not how she expected this to go. She could wanted to get some sun. Instead, she's now facing someone with a big weapon, and with no means to defend herself. Especially not only dressed in a bikini, though it does easily reveal that she, too, is wearing a collar.
"The natives of this island?" She watches her for another moment, still wary and honestly she's just terrified herself and burying it as far under the surface as she can.
Finally she catches sight of the collar on her neck and her free hand comes up to her own neck and the one on her throat. It makes her ease up slightly, though she still stays guarded. Her voice however is softer. "You're a prisoner too, I take it."
The fear on the other girl's face also registers and she looks at her axe, before apologetically lowering it a bit. She'd made her point anyway. "Uh...sorry about that."
She hates that it might have been that obvious that she had gotten frightened. She drops her axe to the ground, before resting her arm on the pole of it. "Scared? Oh please, it takes more than that to scare me. It's instinct where I come from. If you aren't born with it, you don't survive childhood." So she was a little bit of a sass, but it was easier to scoff off the situation as if it had been nothing.
Her tone changes a bit at the question and she gives a chuckle. "That obvious huh? Arrived here about three days ago, if that."
